Putin Says Mitt â€˜Mistakenâ€™ on Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin hinted that a Romney presidency could widen a rift between the United States and Russia over missile defense in an interview on Thursday. Putin also said that Romneyâ€™s rhetoric on the campaign trail â€“ the Republican candidate has called Russia Americaâ€™s â€œno. 1 geopolitical foeâ€ â€“ nothing more than â€œmistakenâ€ campaign-season rhetoric. â€œWeâ€™ll work with whichever president is elected by the American people,â€ Putin said. â€œBut our effort will be only as efficient as our partners will want it to be.â€ Putin also said in the interview that he is not considering a re-evaluation of Russiaâ€™s policy regarding the unabated violence in Syria.
