yea, Rove was pretty tame here, basically 'if folks don't vote our guy stands a chance' (or are suppressed see FL 2000)

On the kicker, the kicker has a great record on fuzzy vision things in an almost Reaganesque way. The table was set by Bill: please bring a calculator, let's do some arithmetic.

Obama has always been at his worst describing math, most people are. Clinton nailed math for dummies. I dont think Obama can just fall back on the soaring rhetoric thingy.

Obama "needs" to deliver math while providing few targets for Ryan's auditors.

So:

1. make folks believe you are set to compromise and work with the other side (if he wins the Reds "just say no" policy will ruin them).

2. show some math, make it stick as much as possible

3. somehow rekindle that whole optimism excitement thingy.

It is a very very tough speech to give.

Rove operates in dark corners. He'll bide his time out of the glare. But he'll try to undermine using his ads.
