Thanks ArVee!

I had the correct client.

I even had placed the -smp 2 argument in the set up.

HOWEVER,

After reading the INSTRUCTIONS to set up this client at Stanford, they say to put the FLAG in the TARGET BOX of the shortcut tab on the shortcut to folding I have on my desktop.

So I did that.

Funny thing happened.

I now have an A_3 core running and -smp 2 appears twice in the console.

As long as it it runs I don't care. This processor will do over 3,0000 PPD easily so I am delighted to get it back and running.

Tomorrow I will do same thing for the machines at work though I am a tad afraid to mess with the one I was having so many problems getting the GPU to stabilize and produce. (GTX 460 from home I took to work)

It finally completes work units and get going on the next one although the wu's are a little slow getting only 11,000 PPD compared to the usual 15,000 PPD they normally get.

So there are a host of reasons for the point lag.

BACK UPDATE:

LAst epidural injection on Thursday last week looks like it may have finally started to take effect.

At least for the past half day. I am not in crippling pain. In fact, that particular location feels pretty good.

I have until Wednesday next week when I meet with the docs again.

We will discuss my options then and my progress at that time.

As you know, a lot can change in a short time and with all the past failures of these injections, obviously my enthusiasm and hopes are not very high.

I was encouraged reading about procedures to fix my condition from the MAYO CLINIC here in Cincinnati and there is an office only five miles from home.

They use a minimally invasive technique to relieve the nerve irritation and rubbing from the bulging discs and recovery is only a few days.

I like that part. So I will see. These shots only last a year and then we start all over again and I don;t think I want to do that.

I am liking for a more permanent solution so I can avoid spine doctors and hospitals next year.

Maybe even enjoy playing a round of golf yet this year...... That would be sweet....

I'll check on this cpu in a bit and see how it is doing.

Thanks for the tip!!!!

the best,

micro....

Thanks for the update, Micro, was wondering what was up and am glad it's just machines, not backs.
I've been through that bit with the a_4 core, I presume, and I know this isn't your first episode either. If it's in fact the a_4 running one thread (one core) then it's electing to treat your machine as a single processor, that's what happened here. When you first went through this, we got you the 6.30 version which at that time got you a_3's instead of a_4's. Now very recently they've got new WU's which they're kind of forcing through and which require a_4. To run them however, you now need 6.34 which will then identify your machine properly and and d/l the LATEST a_4 which the new WU's require to run. Otherwise you sit there churning one core at 250 ppd. This at least is what happened here very recently on two and I think maybe three machines. The short answer for me was trash queue.dat, /work dir, core a_4, let it d/l a new w/u, do its thing, get itself the latest a_4 which then happily runs all 4 cores, and I don't know if you know this, it doesn't show until final points are rewarded, gives you a 10% bonus for all this folly.

I was right where you're at, ready to shut down the cpu side, but this worked. v7 btw fixes it too, but I like things slow and painful, lol.

Good going on the gpu fix.
