Sorry to hear you as well have aggravated the back, BAP, they're a very touchy thing. As a longtime sciatica sufferer, (closer to Micro's affliction as opposed to your current grief) I can relate that one of the few rules I could ever get to stick was that if you managed to get comfortable or at least lessen the pain, that was a position to stay in, you were doing some good. Hope you can get enough rest to get yours better!
On the points, yes they certainly fluctuate, the latest I've read is that higher-end machines when assigned smaller proteins to fold (lower atom count) will drop in terms of pure performance. IOW it's more efficient to let the big boys run flat out and do their thing. Sometimes those larger assignments are just not available when the WU is assigned by the server I guess.
On a much more straightforward basis, right now there are just a series of low-ppd WU's being assigned to middle-end gpu's. It might be high-end GPU's too, middle-end is as high as I go at the moment. It's the 762x series and I'm getting them without interruption on my NVidia 46x's and 550ti. Those are my workhorses and they've dropped by 50%, that's a real hit. That would apply to everybody else who has them so that's quite a hit and would be noticeable even when considering the team aggregate, so that's likely the reason for the latest production dropoff. Would apply to other teams too. Just a series that's come out assigned a low points value. They'll end eventually and it might not ever seem like it, but they go the other way too.
Fold On!
