So who do you want? Romney or Obama?

I would like to have coffee with George will right now. Seriously MR. Will, who do you really think is a good idea?

MS. Rice ... what are your thoughts (I kow whatever thought you have you were born with, but what the heck, accept data for a change).

Really? Mittens?

Hilary may be a liability, a world liaiblity. Mr Holbroke strikes as likely the most capable on for a generation. Mitchell had his moments. Blair played in the sand. The UN consensus figure heads are worth all of nothing. They are matched only by Ms Rice's adaptive capacity.

So who, who is goign to gain the reighs and kepp this for exploding even more. An American? Patreus? Panetta? A throw back of the Baker mold? A fiery Frenchman?

I am astounded by the rhetorical and newscycle silence on this matter. Maybe I a m wrong. Maybe it will just go away.

not accommodating the US election cycle.

I find this site to be a decent (certainly partisan) place to stumble into a recap:

http://www.petercliffordonline.com/syria

I'm not sure if safe haven's. no fly zones and such are going to wait unto mid November. It is a US political, geopolitical, and local regional political, military, and economic minefield.

Sure, the newscycle tired of the Arab Spring, but this is not the Arab Spring folks read about.

It got stepped on by the Olympics, and now the US conventions, but they are doing some really ugly stuff there.

Yes. Crap happens in the Congo too. Crap has happened in Myanmar.

It is awkward to say that a turd in Syria is a bigger turd than a turd in Congo. But the US doesn't spend a lot of time formulating Carrier Battle Group schedules around matters in the Congo.

Nobody here needs me to remind them of of the arch of the fertile crescent, of border lengths, of oil reserves, of shipping channels, of warm water ports, of the Levant, of where the country of Israel happens to lie, Lebanon, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, the Suez, the Straights, Russia, China, Turkey, of Shia and Sunni, or Persian and Arab, Afghanistan, etc etc etc.

Yikes.
