But of course if schools and neighborhoods were not being shot-up on a regular basis by easy-to-obtain military-style weapons there would be NO need to ever be concerned that an elementary school child's hand gesture may have a fleeting 'gun-shaped' appearance...

I'm not familiar with S.E.E., the sign language system this young man has learned, but in A.S.E. (American Sign Language), the signs for the letters G and H could be construed as gun-shaped. I wonder how long it will be before those signs have to be changed, because children can't use them in school. Right about the time girls can't refer to a hair clip as a barrette, because it sounds too much like Beretta.

I really don't like where this country seems to be heading. There's little reaction if a child waves around their middle finger, but spelling their name with their hands can get them suspended. *facepalm*

Hunter Spanjer says his name with a certain special hand gesture, but at just three and a half years old, he may have to change it.

"He's deaf, and his name sign, they say, is a violation of their weapons policy," explained Hunter's father, Brian Spanjer.
