I don't expect this to hold, but it is a pleasant surprise, Rasmussen has Obama +1% ;))
Akin plunges in Missouri poll; state now in ‘tossup’ column
August 24, 2012, 12:11 PM
The effects of Todd Akin’s comments have taken a drastic toll on his chances to unseat Missouri Democratic U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill, as the Republican challenger now is 10 points behind the incumbent, according to a new poll.
The survey from Rasmussen Reports also says that the comments have turned the tide in Missouri’s presidential vote, as the state now is officially in the “toss-up” column, with President Barack Obama now ahead of Republican challenger Mitt Romney by a point 47-46. Missouri had been put into the category of “leaning” Republican prior to the poll.
McCaskill, considered vulnerable in her re-election bid, now is comfortably ahead of Akin 48% to 38% in the wake of Akin’s comments to a television interviewer regarding rape. In promoting a strict pro-life stance that calls for no abortions even in cases of rape or incest, Akin said that in situations of a “legitimate rape,” a woman’s reproductive system can shut down and avoid pregnancy.
