I purchased Dragon naturally speaking version 11 a few weeks ago and have only just started using it. I thought maybe Office Depot had ripped me off because version 12 has now come out and I am seeing version 11.5 being tested on YouTube so I know that 11 is a pretty old release. However, I'm happy to see that even though I bought version 11 (for about $30), it updated itself as part of the installation to version 11.5.

My initial assessment? Thumbs up. I'm impressed.

Here's a YouTube video I found demonstrating version 11.5 and its ability to handle even a strong southern accent. In fact Dragon seems to work about as well for this guy as it does for me. He too is running Dragon version 11.5.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

If any of you notice a difference in my writing style or an increase in my punctuation errors, it could be because I've just started working with Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11, a speech recognition package that I'm using on my home computer. It puts an added burden on me to proofread what I've written and I've never been all that great at proofreading.

In general though I'm very impressed with it. In addition to using it for most of my typing, I've defined a bunch of special words, such as

"ONTAGS," "OFFTAGS,"
"ONBOLD,OFFBOLD"
"ONITALICS","OFFITALICS"
"ONUNDERLINE","OFFUNDERLINE"
"ONGREEN"
"ONDARKRED"
and "OFFCOLOR" (which gets used at the end of all colors.)
"ATOMICBOBSROUND" (#board-231)
"ATOMICBOBSPOPE" (#board-501")

It's saving me a ton of time. But if I don't carefully proofread what I've written Dragon can make some strange mistakes. In that respect I guess it's not so different from my normal writing!
