My family has spent five generations producing more than we consume. After more than 100 years I am nearly powerless as I watch the government plunder the modest wealth that has been created in order to dole it out to those who choose to make no effort, or to provide a standard of living much higher than I permit myself to those on the government payroll.

It is reprehensible that government should do this. Even so, I did nothing to deserve the wealth and opportunity that God has provided. I intend each day to continue to live as my family has for generations.
Each day is an opportunity.

I play about three times a year lately. Sometimes I break 90. Sometimes 110 is a challenge. I drive Par 4's on occassion and then I 4 putt. Its August and I have yet to get out, so I'm thinkin' 110.

CSL, you are special, seriously. We're at odds politically as I detest the far right. Your Wife is right, you've contributed to SSI for 40 years. If your principles are so strong and can afford to pass on it that's wonderful, but not fiscally responsible - which you are. Nothing immoral there; anti principle, perhaps. I really don't think "people.... give up their....right to achieve.." They accept it, as I have, because they paid into it, counted on it and feel deserving. That said, I understand it is not a self sustaining program - I paid for my parents and my children and their friends are paying for me. It must be changed soon. But nothing will change w/ obstructionism, it requires compromise. God forbid the Senate Dems ever decide to emulate the GOP and obstruct everything via filibuster. Their natural style is to seek compromise but they're learning from the obstructionist. Golf, love to. I'm 71 but refuse to play from the senior tees, still consistently break 90 and dream still to shoot my age. It's doable, but only play once a month at best.
