Understand I live in my own wacky world with Thomas Paine, Thomas Jefferson, Frederic Bastiat, Ron Paul & others. They were(are) all intellectually way out of my league but they make a lot of sense to me.

I think there should be no central bank. The central bank distorts economic reality with the powers it has been given.

There should be no taxation of any citizen. (I am baffled we accept theft by the government with nary a whimper of protest.) Taxes further distort economic reality and inhibit the creation of wealth.

The Federal Reserve System and taxation have both usurped wealth and dramatically reduced economic growth. Our current standard of living is but a small fraction of what might have otherwise been attained had these mistakes not been allowed.

On the federal level the U S Treasury should simply print the amount of currency necessary to support only that amount necessary for our national defense (not to "stimulate" the economy). Usually about 2% of GDP but perhaps 25% if a war is declared by congress. Private banks should take in deposits and make loans. Yep sometimes private banks fail.

We should as quickly as possible reduce our military presence throughout the world. We have no right to impose our will or values on other nations. It weakens us financially and also makes us a target.

Its my wacky world. I mostly just talk to myself. I get fewer disagreements that way.

Hi csl,

Well, I was really talking about the clutch of folks with Nobels. A fair number of those are not on the right. Danged Swedes keep choosing liberals!!

As regards the success of the stimulus, as I understand it 13 of the 15 academic papers that have examined it say it at least appeared to do some good.

I know that doesn't fit your theory of how things ought to be. But then that is my gripe with Republicans. The theory doesn't fit the facts then the facts must be wrong.

Anyway, good for you for posting in this venue.
