Hi Cactus Flower,

From what I've heard from Ryan so far, he appears to embrace the Catholic church on issues of abortion, but insults their teachings when it comes to the poor.

The bishops took him to task as did the nuns on Ryan's budget plan.

Recently a sister from 'nuns on the bus' invited him to join them for a day, to show him how difficult life is for the working poor. Hoping he would get an understanding of their struggles. To date, no reply.

Apparently he is keen on Thomas Aquinas, who is I think a very powerful and interesting thinker. If America's right wing Christians start to read his work as a result of Ryan's elevation, maybe they will start to think some new thoughts - beyond the God of capitalism model followed by some.
