Realist - Everybody in America is soft, and hates conflict. The cure for this, both in politics and social life, is the same -- hardihood. Give them raw truth.

clo is correct, although I'm sure her motives are self-serving. (If she'd researched it and found that the Romney claim was TRUE, history suggests she wouldn't have said anything.)

I can't stand O'bummer. But unlike clo, I'll state the truth whether it's in my favor or not. Honesty is what matters to me, not some stupid party affiliation. The TRUTH is that Romney's no angel. In this case, he spun some facts favorably to paint a picture that's not factual at all:

The lawsuit is real. But while the Romney camp claims it is an O'bummer attempt to prevent a voting period benefit for the military, it's actually an attempt to prevent the reversal of the extended voting period for Ohio CIVILIANS. This is political mumbo-jumbo at its best, really. By restricting the civilians, the military can be thought of as receiving a benefit (over the civilians.) And O'bummer's attempt to stop that from happening gets spun by the Romney camp as O'bummer's attempt to eliminate a military voting benefit.

The lawsuit, meanwhile, IS a White House attempt to gain votes. In 2008, many Ohio supporters were bused out to the voting booths immediately after church. O'bummer doesn't want that to end. Not in Ohio - a state he desperately needs.

But it won't impact the military one way or the other.

Not that it much matters. Politicians on both sides can spin a lie so intricately that the average voter has no chance of telling it from the truth. My guess is that it's too late to get THIS distortion reversed. Romney's claim has already gone viral. My hunch is that undoing it at this point will be impossible for the O'bummer team.
