The funny thing is, I've never seen any evidential basis for the claim that the periods of greatest innovation coincide with the periods of the lowest taxes. This is just Republican mythology.

These claims might be interesting if there was some kind of support behind them. But as is so often the case, they are derived from what they call principle. It must be so because the theory says so.

It seems Israeli culture has a 25% corporate tax rate, a progressive income tax rate from 10-48%, a 17% VAT and NI of 8% on the first 5k and 18% on the next 35k.

How can they possibly be doing all the innovation and entrepreneurship Mittens talks about under such a stifling burden of you-didn't-build-that big government?
