I wish that marriage could roll back to its original state, which was as a religious celebration and status. The government got its nose into it first with inheritance (to allow a wife to inherit her husband's property), and later with taxation.

The ease and frequency of divorce, and the acceptance of divorce as a solution to marital problems, is one of the biggest problems in our society. I think THAT is a far greater threat to our society than gay marriage, or unmarried-yet-committed relationships, will ever be.

Hi KTC,

Do you think 'gay marriage' is a threat to 'traditional marriage?'

If you do, would you explain how?

IMO, I think we have a stronger society when we have many people in loving committed relationships, married or not.

'Marriage' is a basic building block of our society, but how has divorce eroded that? (before gay marriage evolved)
