NYC Won’t Defend Cop in Civil Suit

It looks like NYPD cop Anthony Bologna won’t have the city backing him as he faces a civil suit in which he stands accused of firing pepper spray at Occupy Wall Street protestors last September. The city declined to defend him against the suit – an unusual move that would leave Bologna liable for any financial damages that result from the trial. Bologna, who has been a police officer for 29 years, appealed the decision. He accepted an NYPD punishment that included losing 10 vacation days for his involvement in the incident.
