The last time we ate at Chick-Fil-A was last November while we were in southern Indiana. There are no Chick-Fil-A's in southern Illinois! We are a vegetarian so we only had their fries. They were very good but we have no idea if they were fried in healthy cooking oil or not as we simply don't keep up with Chick that much.

There was no reason for Dan Cathey, the CEO of Chick to have made the comments that he did. As one commentator stated, all that Cathey did was to impose his values on a minority group who never imposes their values on anyone at all. This imposition, we think, is one of the reasons that mainline Christianity is suffering so much in this nation right now. This nation was founded on the seperation of church and state and when Christians decide that they need to cross those lines, over the long run, the faith suffers very greatly. If people like Chick's Cathey spent more time witnessing to others about the basic love that is the foundation of faith, they would do far better than they do attacking others who have never meant them any harm.

As far as it goes for us personally, if we get a chance to eat at a Chick-Fil-A, we will continue to do so because we like the corporations very amusing advertising and the fact that they do not open on sundays. Someone should remind Cathey and so many others of his ilk that the Bible spends far more time discussing divorce than it does homosexuality, and, that the supposed moral decline of this nation is much more closely tied to the divorce rate than it is the issue of whether gays and lesbians might want to formalize a relationship that so many of them have been in for decades. It will be interesting to see if the divorce rate among same sex couples is higher or lower than those who are in more traditional relationships over the years to come.

IOVHO,

Regards,

Joe

To say that "God exists" is the greatest understatement ever made across space and time.
