Yeah, I know ... the river card can be very cruel, at times!
My brother-in-law is an excellent poker player and he plays in a lot of tournaments (locally and in Vegas). In one hand, he was dealt a pair of kings. The flop came out with a king, an ace, and some other meaningless card. He bet his set of kings and one other player stayed with him. As it turned out, this other guy had an ace in his hold cards, so he wasn't ready to turn loose of his pair of aces. Well, the turn card was another ace. My brother-in-law had a full boat with kings over aces and the other guy had a set of aces. They both bet heavy. The river card was the fourth king. My brother-in-law went all in and the other guy, having a full boat with aces over kings, gladly obliged him with a call. My brother-in-law said he really tried to let the guy down as easy as he could, but getting beat when you're holding an aces over kings full boat is pretty hard to take, don'tcha know!
