Micro, that's awful! I have sciatica so I have some idea of chronic pain but I'm guessing it's nothing like discs actually rubbing on nerves. Stay off it, man, other than going to the doc's that is. Try lying flat on the floor. STOP trying to do stuff. Get some serious pain killers, this is what they're for.

Leave the video card, it'll keep until you've at least moderated enough to welcome a distraction. Doesn't sound like you're there.

WHEN you're better: Yes, I agree it's probably 2D-clocking. There's no solution that I know of to address the periodic drops we all get with the newer cards, but it shouldn't be booting up there. Start with no overclocking would be an obvious thing. Second would be the 301.42 drivers the nvidia site will try to push on you will probably be ok, but the ones working on this machine which houses my 550ti are 280.26. I have no reason to change, well enough alone and all that. Also can't comment on Win 7 for the same reason.

Here's something you can try when you've absolutely had enough though: try FAHv7 and let it do what it wants to default to during the install, might actually fix it. I prefer v6 so I'm not putting v7 on any more machines at this time but I sure would if it solved the problem you're having. Try the other stuff first though. Or hey, maybe try it first and maybe you won't mind it, others certainly like it. Either way I'll e-mail you the 280.26 drivers because they can be a pain to find. Oh yeah, whatever you're doing don't forget to consider running Driver Sweeper.

I'm serious, man, stop aggravating things, everything will wait. I believe I speak for Sun when I out and out warn you, I WILL bring Mrs. M. into this.

I am having a devil of a time getting my GTX460 from home to run GPU folding on the spare pc where the Zotac 550 Ti was at.

I cannot seem to get a clean install of the nVidia drivers.

When I fire it up it seems like it only wants to 2D clock. You can tell because the points per day are about half of what this was getting here at home and the temperature is really low.

IS it possible the power supply , 500 watt, is not strong enough for it?

I really am near my wits end with this and down to only one idea.

Wipe the drive clean and start all over without the video card installed. Make sure I get the mainboard drivers and then download the latest updates.

Since I am starting over, would you advise using the windows 7 64 bit like I have here at the house?

I also have the 600 watt power supply here as a back up and am thinking about changing that as well.

Any comments of any kind are appreciated.

P.S. I got the radiologist report from the MRI today.

I took it out of the envelope and made a copy of it before I give it to my spine doc.

It ain't pretty. Three areas have spinal stenosis and two have compressed and bulging discs and a couple things are rubbing nerves.

I ain't a doctor but it don't sound good to me. No wonder those spinal injections I got last Monday have not done anything for me.

I put a call into doctor's office today and waiting to hear back. I either need another set of shots or something.

In the meantime, well, let's just say I am really hurting constantly in my very low center back at the base of the spine and pelvis.

Hope you don't get this stuff. At this rate, I can hardly wait for heaven and a new body!

the best,

micro....
