That is how it worked with Dell. There was a rather large investment up front that resulted in the on-going Dell revenue.

However, the one thing that Dell, Samsung and all the various pilots show is, despite the claim of vendor independence, the software is not quickly ported to different vendors and different applications. The so-called "Swiss army knife" concept is simply not true.

A $5m investment yielding $1m/qtr over 15 years would be a helluva investment. I'd take one of those for myself any day if it was on offer.
