Cactus, I wasn't advocating the status quo. There is much room for improvement. Generally I've never noticed much improvement where the govenment gets involved(war on poverty as a perfect example.) You seem to lose a lot of your open mindedness and reasoning skills when the talk turns to politics. I think a few simple changes would dramatically lower health care costs. Eliminating employers as middlemen, competition across state lines, tort reform, encouraging preemptive care, having more people making use of major medical policies, allowing for higher rate for higher risks such as overweight people, and intergrating more alternative health care providers, especially witch doctors from the Carribean. I'm sure you've heard all this before so you must have a good reason why it would be better to let the government take it over.
