yes, perhaps COTS is a bit rich of a definition, on that I don't know, but it does seem that way.

I suspect that it is that way but less so when they can get a customer to go all-in (GM), and that I suspect in Lee central crystal-ball never-got-it-right but give-me -a-bonus-anyway, they suspect that some iteration or another will make their integration issues go away .... Vista, Win7, Win8, UEFI ... something will make it go away and become COTS, or so it would seem they think, otherwise volume can never really happen.

Folks talk about a billion machines, all while not recognizing how arduous 18k machines was.

It's odd. The full-blown optimists like awk babble about millions of millions of machines and the flipping of switches and yet seem to be the first to line up and apologize for how long it took to turn on 18k seats ... that the urchins such as I don't understand the complexities.

A cake and eat it too thingy.

most laudibly 'umble of you, digger.

truth is, it's wave that should take control of its stock price.

easy thing to do. make actual sales. then tell folks about them.

instead, they perform like crap and then try to raise money on the strength of it.

when that doesn't work too well, they try to rewrite history to suggest there was a plan.

the plan was to expect a forecast to work out on time. interesting way to make decisions for this lot.

to all appearances, they seem to be selling a product that requires oodles of custom work and this means volumes are very poor.

but meanwhile they pretend it's a commodity which can be sold in volume. a few folks like ingram and synnex are willing to post their product for sale.

even so, there are problems. and i guess we will know what they were when they are in the rear view mirror. until then, we get to witness reality without knowing the explanation.
