If it does not effect future licensing, then why did IDCC commit to sell patents to Intel without a requirement that they also sign a core patent license for use in the terminal units they are manufacturing?
Intel is not manufacturing terminal units....reference designs, yes...but have teamed with certain manufacturers...like Lava...for the XOLO X900 smartphone.
I got enough from the company's non-answer about arbitration....to understand and create the opinion....that the settlement and treatment is still TBD ....and will close at or near the time frame of the patent acquisition. Still an opportunity to have recurring from the protocol stack on baseband sales....but I have a feeling that is or may have been a point of negotiation in conjunction with the patent sale.
Intel coulda won over more than a few companies out there if they had removed IDCC in total....but we still haven't seen how Intel is really using their large existing LTE patent portfolio (look at the OceanTomo chart in teecee's signature)....
all jmo....onward and upward! ....and my FA is pooping bricks R^) love it
