That is why I was saying that a transaction such as this basically creates cash out of "thin air". The assets sold were not being used to drive licensing other than pure volume and were valued at ZERO by the market. The most important statement from Merritt was that this sale represents 18 months of patent creation for the company as we are creating about 1,000 per year!!! SO we created $375M out of "thin air" and are producing this much "thin air" with our current cost structure every 18 months. So we are producing about $225M in assets every year but the net value of our current portfolio is still only about $750M????? Wow, value can be had here.

the beauty/ironic thing is... say these weren't making any money for IDCC (say infrastructure patents) and now the big dog just woke up with a bone in it's mouth... and looking for meat...

these companies have to deal with an exponentially larger entity with expose flesh... shoulda just licensed with the flea and gained access to those babies before the splintering.
