Sure you are right. I haven't followed GM very closely.
I really think the US could use a new way of thinking about itself. The old model of macho, uneducated, flag-wearing, self-regard could use a broom. This country has lots of other qualities to build itself around. Innovation. Integrity. Scale. Specialisation. Throw some humility into that mix and I think the US brand would shine again. But the current political argument is a dead-end.
I marvel at how Big Corporations like GM can mis-manage for so many years, get a bail out from the American Gov't then transfer technology and jobs to China. All while the US Gov't knows the Chinese are stealing Intellectual property and who knows what else from the West.
Yet business as usual. Same old same old.
