This article's headline - which I've also shamelessly appropriated as the title of my post - can best be described as "trolling." The Euro Zone is *NOT* going to collapse today. The collapse is coming, but it will be a prolonged process, spanning months or years. History may well record one day that, by now, it had already begun.

Few major events are, like World War I and its assassination of Archduke Ferdinand, able to have a single event identified as being what precipitated the event.

On a side note, given the large number of mounting pressures, and their enormity, I would expect at least ONE extraordinary financial event to occur this year. If this simmering cauldron is somehow "managed" back down into quietude without the use of military force, I will be be stunned. Such a feat would ALMOST convince me that I'm wrong and TEOTWAWKI is avoidable.

Almost.

Thursday may be the final test for the euro zone, Vincent Cignarella argues on Markets Hub. The simmering euro-zone crisis may reach full boil when Spain goes to the market to borrow bonds just one day after the ECB met.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months
