I see that governments have hard decisions to make, that constitutional processes can drive systemic failures, that influences can be mismatched in favour of bad ideas, that what is popular can be different from what is sensible - these kinds of things.
But whether policy-makers are psychopaths or just normal humans trying to deal with complex social phenomena within structures which they don't entirely control (checks and balances) - here we differ.
eg for myself, I think debt is a useful tool, if it is used well.
eg I don't see fiat currency as intrinsically a bad idea.
eg I think austerity is unlikely to be a wise policy during a depression.
eg I don't see your conspiracy and I think Ben Bernanke is doing the best he can within the Federal Reserve framework.
eg I think the Federal Reserve has been the most functional body within the global economy.
I don't think this makes me or the policy makers who believe things I believe, or indeed those who believe otherwise, psychopathic. I think people base their decisions on the templates they think work best. I just think, for instance, that current Republican theories are not based on sound theory.
