I've some interesting news. Car broke down and we are at some hotel. No telling when the service station will fix it. Using wife's computer and was lucky enuf to recall my Atomic Bob password.

Unfortunately I have my laptops with me and no batteries or cords, so no folding for them.

micro you mentioned our wonderful 7im wasn't much help. After a lot of back and forth and no clues for me 7im suggested i check the connections and 2ndly then try to up the fan speed. The cord connections seemed okay though the connection to the power source may have been loose. I was and am worried about spending so much $ on this 680 and not have it fold at all: zero all weekend. So I called EVGA and told them the story asking how to up the fan speed. Idling it was about 40C. After some fancy fooling with a temperature graph I set the fan speed from 40% to 60% and rebooted.

A nice thing: Version 7 on reboot not only continued with SMP it restarted GPU so there was no need to separate them. Now running GPU I had never gotten beyond 3% before it encountered UNSTABLE computer, shutting down the GPU portion while the SMP kept going. Now with 60% fan, it got all the way to 14 percent before it shut down. Eureka progress. This GPU must not be able to stand the heat. This time I set the fan to 95% and left it. Won't be able to tell if this succeeds until later this week when I return (assuming the car gets fixed). If finally I have to set it to 100 percent and it fails that will be a problem. I will have to UNDERclock it! Not great, but no choice. EOM for now.

I went to qork this morning because my wife's sister came to our house to help for a few days and let me go to the company.

I discovered that the GPU folding client had shut down with nan errors apparently several days ago.

That would explain why the low scores beside being inundated with slower work units. So, I have backed off the GPU shader speed a little and the first work unit is about to get finished so looks like I got it going again. Hopefully we will get some numbers going again for the team.

the best,

micro.... Very Happy
