Hi Alea.....

only one way to tell who is the alarmist.....who will
come out of this crisis for the better....

1.Those holding paper IOU government bonds,FIAT
currency & other paper IOUs....Trust in the government,
politicians & Central banks.

2.Those holding tangible physical assets & precious metals....
No trust in the government, politicians & Central banks.....

Doma.

Not for doma.

But if the notes, credits etc which are the foundation of a financial system are forms of IOU, and everyone at the same time decides both to pay their debts off and not to sell any of their goods, then the value of the goods remains in their hands but the value of the IOUs in circulation would be zero. So while you can theoretically extinguish the motion of a currency, you cannot so easily extinguish the value of the information it represents.

On the other hand, since we use currency to store value and exchange goods with other people and we generally like to have the ability to exchange goods and store value - for instance, to purchase a pint of milk, or buy a house, or keep a balance in a bank - it seems a wee bit unlikely that such a situation would arise.

Some theories look like simple alarmism seeking to take advantage of ignorance.
