if it was organised amongst a group, then of course it would be pernicious and one hopes it is illegal. seems like a kind of fraud on other investors to me, though one would want legal advice to know if it was so. one hopes not, and certainly i have no interest in pursuing it if it were. not worth my time but is worth the comment.

same as if the short thing is done the same way.

one just wants a properly functioning market and participants who are honest about their motives. i wouldn't bother to argue with people who say black is white if i know that they don't care about the truth because they are only interested in gains and losses.

sometimes it seems that way. paradox that people behaving dishonestly may actually benefit other long investors while misleading them. slightly peculiar situation. i wouldn't object to the investment. just the dishonest conversation.

me too. my only complaint would be that it doesn't sit well alongside the notion of conformity of optimism.

if a person is doing the two things, then they are deliberately manipulative of investor sentiment for their personal benefit. i expect it's legal, but it ain't right.
