THE UNITED STATES INTERNATIONAL TRADE COMMISSION
Washington, DC
Before The Honorable David P. Shaw
Administrative Law Judge
In the Matter of
CERTAINWIRELESS DEVICESWITH
3G CAPABILITIES AND
COMPONENTS THEREOF
Investigation No. 337-TA-800
RESPONDENT NOKIA’S UNOPPOSED MOTION TO EXTEND TIME TO
RESPOND TO COMPLAINANT’S MOTION FOR SUMMARY
DETERMINATION THAT CERTAIN NOKIA DEVICES INFRINGE CLAIMS 1
AND 3 OF U.S. PATENT 7,970,127 (MOT. NO. 800-085) AND MOTION FOR
SUMMARY DETERMINATION THAT CERTAIN NOKIA DEVICES INFRINGE
CLAIMS 1 AND 2 OF U.S. PATENT 8,009,636 (MOT. NO. 800-087)
Pursuant to Commission Rules 210.15,Respondents Nokia Corporation and
Nokia, Inc. (collectively, “Nokia”) hereby move for an extension of time to respond to
Complainant’s Motion for Summary Determination that Certain Nokia Devices Infringe
Claims 1 and 3 of U.S. Patent 7,970,127 and Motion for Summary Determination that
Certain Nokia Devices Infringe Claims 1 and 2 of U.S. Patent 8,009,636 (Mot. Nos. 800-
085 and 800-087, collectively “the InterDigital Motions”) through June 11, 2012, in order
to have adequate time to prepare a response.
The technology at issue in this Investigation is complex, the issues raised in the
InterDigital Motions are serious, and the potential consequences of the motions may have
immense and severe consequences on Nokia’s business. Responding to this motion,
therefore, will require extensive analyses into the operation of the accused Nokia
products, the requirements of the 3GPP standards body, the scope of the 127 and 636
2
patents, as well as any alleged overlap between the operation of the accused Nokia
products, the requirements of the 3GPP standards body, and the scope of the 127 and 636
patents.
In light of the foregoing, Nokia requests for an extension of time to respond to the
InterDigital Motions until June 11, 2012. Pursuant to Ground Rule 5(e), Nokia advised
InterDigital and all of the parties to this Investigation of Nokia’s intent to move to extend
the time to respond to the InterDigital motions on May 25, 2012. InterDigital and all
Respondents indicated that they do not oppose the motion. The Staff supports Nokia’s
motion for extension of time to respond to the motion concerning the 127 patent [Mot.
No. 800-085], and does not take a position with respect to an extension to respond to the
636 motion [Mot. No. 800-087].

DATED: May 29, 2012 Respectfully submitted,
/s/ S. Benjamin Pleune
