...back when I was a mere lad, we had Republicans, Democrats and Southern Democrats. The Southern Democrats usually voted with Republicans on Fiscal and / or military support and all by themselves on social issues. It was a nice well balanced three legged stool. Sometimes I think we should work toward building the libertarians for the same reason. Dunno if it would work or not.

Liberals are like a "Slinky". Totally useless, but somehow ya can't help but smile when you see one tumble down a flight of stairs!

Uglier? Certainly more partisan ... because the immediate stakes are much higher than they used to be, ribit. In the past, we had two major political parties that, even though they differed in how they proposed to lead, genuinely believed in the superior goodness of Christian values, the Constitution, the American people, and Capitalism. Now, in general, we have one major political party (Republicans) that kinda, sorta still believes in the true virtues of the United States and another major political party (Democrats) that believes in Marxism. It is an ongoing battle for the very existence of the United States of America, and the unscrupulous, anti-American left wants to see us destroyed at any cost.
