I sometimes compare the Progressive mentality to that of shipwreck survivors, still at sea, in leaky lifeboats. A Progressive spots a leak and wants to patch it with wood pulled from elsewhere on the hull. The end result is that the lifeboat continues to take on water, but now from multiple locations.

Ayn Rand's analogy to cannibalism is valid too - but only if it is explained that the cannibal is consuming his own body.

In either case, patching the weaknesses in our economy with wealth stolen from the successful areas, only result in more people being unsuccessful. This is not the route to prosperity. The nation needs to bite the bullet and make painful changes.
