One thing that has occurred to me forcefully in the recent past is that there's a widespread Wavoid presumption of understanding things better than those who are sceptical or cynical about Wave's prospects.
And the more I think about it, the more I realise it has no foundation.
The vision is plain enough to see these days in a way it wasn't back in the early 2000s. Indeed, an awful lot of effort is spent trying to understand detail which is pretty much superfluous when thinking about the quality of this investment.
At the end of the day, Wave has a product with a potentially large scope and we wonder when and whether that product will deliver revenue and at what cost. Many of the wavoids generally are weak on execution as they seem especially susceptible to the vapours from the crack pipe and the messages from the unsafe harbour.
So I am not really sure what the cause of the conceit in folks like rwk actually is. Not noticeably imaginative or constructive. Evidently credulous. No obvious ability to observe a failing that is under his nose. Desiccated and humourless personality. Weak on logic. No noticeable skill as a futurist. No obvious talent with the technology. etc
I think it makes sense for Wavoids to be a little bit humble about their insights. They are not talking down from a pedestal. They are on the ground like the rest of us.
