Hi doma,

I have now seen part 2!!

Of course the profit motive has a distortive effect on science. It creates a focus for new activity by funding it. This means that lots of folks work on apparently sexy things like molecular biology rather than other areas. But I don't believe this invalidates its results. It just means that biology's focus has become more microscopic than telescopic. And you really need both to make a discipline. Hmmm. Reminds me of something.

Even so, the idea that the environment influences outcomes in evolution is something I have already mentioned. Fits right into my opposing forces universe.

I shall find out what these guys mean by their field in later installments, doubtless. Someone once told me that Sheldrake's ideas and mine are not so far apart, so I guess I am going to find out.

By the way, The Selfish Gene describes a gene which is perhaps immortal, but is not entirely selfish. Indeed, Dawkins himself is generally keen to point out the benefits and efficiencies of altruism. No Thatcherite, he. But then, I am not sure Mrs T herself is quite the cardboard-cutout, greed-is-good doctrinaire she is portrayed as.

So Lipton is cloning stem cells in the 1960's...
Science ignores his findings,he leaves the university
he's teaching at because he can no longer teach
scientific Dogma,because as he says it's no different
to teaching religious dogma & that was the reason
he first embraced science......

The science is simple enough....

If you take identical genetic stem cells & put them
in different environments you get different results...so
the conclusion is it's the environment that determines
the result not some pre-determined genetic sequence.

Science is about maintaining the dogma,maintaining
the status quo & big pharma selling their chemical pills......

So we find out that Prozac is a 100% placebo pill...it works
only because of the belief it will work.....

Big Pharma hates Placebo.....you cannot patent belief!

recommend you listen to it all.....they both just have different
theories on the "Field" but both agree that the information
comes from the "Field"....the "Field" is the Enviroment.
