Of coures not. We are a nation of immigrants. But large-scale immigration made sense when we were expanding our western frontiers, and skill set needs were different. Not the case today. Also the immigration was controlled, not anyone who can sneak across the border earned the right to be an American citizen.

And I'm sure that the Native Americans felt the same way. But being that I have four multiracial granddaughters (as well as old family stories as to exactly how 'colorful' my father's ancestors were) when I think of America I don't think of the idea of 'racial purity' as having played ANY positive role whatsoever in our society, no matter what some people would like to believe.
