Yes, Mr Dunner is at the CAFC very often and knows the clerks very well. The rule of thumb is never prod a federal judge formally.

There are official ways of checking in and unofficial ways so Merritt is probably talking about unofficial ways of checking in. It is easy to say that one party should put in an official complaint but there is the risk of upsetting the court I am sure. Getting in the middle could cause further delays I am guessing as well. Does anyone think the Supreme Court would speed things up? Our court systems suck and are balanced towards those that want to use them for unintended purposes.
