...the gay marriage thingy is one thingy. These other things are kinda different.

Gays adopting? On one hand, I don't believe kids are better off in a single gender home than they would be in a home with both genders in it. On the other hand they might be better off in a "gay" home than they are in a orphanage.

Catholic church refusing to let gay couples apply for adoption? Catholic placement services are just that., Catholic placement services. They have the right to do just that. Separation of church and state requires that the gubmint mind their own bidness and this ain't it. While not taking "gay" applications might be discriminatory, placing a "breeder" child in a "gay" home could be discriminatory against the child.

Whilst we are on this topic, I just happened to think that I would not want a "christian" child placed in a muslim home. That's bound to come up sooner or later.

re: "equal to marriage in every way, but it should be called something besides marriage."

That's what I'm tempted to say as well, but it is more complicated than that.

What about adopting kids. Are you okay with that?

What about the Catholic church, which REFUSES to let gay couples apply for adoption. Are you okay with Massachusetts' decision that the Catholic Church can no longer find homes for these kids? The Catholic Church is the state's primary means for finding homes for orphans. Massachusetts has no backup plan. So, the orphans lose.

I don't expect you to have an answer. Like I said, it is complicated.

IMO, the nation needs to decide whether it is or is NOT best for children to have both a father and a mother at home. These days, the answer is unclear.

I view it as pretty straight-forward, though. The people I know who were raised overwhelmingly by one gender are almost uniformly weak individuals. They lack the balance that usually comes with constant exposure from a young age to adults of both genders.
