Dig,
You don't take a chunk of money out of a guys paycheck
his entire life . . promising him a retirement
pension . . and then when it is time for him to
collect tell him "you can't have it".

It is called Theft.

I got two choices . . .

1.) Be thrifty and save and invest so's I can enjoy a
luxurious retirement - my employer called it a 'three
legged stool' - Social Security, Company Pension, and
my 401K. (I chose to add a fourth leg - private
investments. I want to retire with lots of money.)

2.) Spend like there is no tomorrow. And rely on
Social Security for a retirement. And I'm pretty
sure Social Security will not pay enough for all
the little extra luxuries I'd like to enjoy. (Like,
travel . . .)

So I was thrifty and saved and now you want to tell
me I get nothing . . . after thirty or forty years of
taking my money promising me Social Security?

I'm not sure why you direct this post towards me.

If what you are saying is that there are fuck-offs out there, I agree.

The principle problem of SoSec is demographic. More old people at the nipple, fewer young people making milk.

The dirt-bags don't add up to enough to explain the problem.

A solution is to means test. If you don't need it, piss off.

another solution would be to chill out on immigration, get them legal, and get them paying. Then the balance of old and young is restored.
