Former President Bush To Receive More Taxpayer Money Than Any Current Former President

Despite being out of office since early 2009, former President George W. Bush is still being subsidized by the US Government. According to a budget proposal document put together by the General Services Administration,
Bush is slated to receive more than $1.3 million in taxpayer dollars, including $85,000 in phone costs, The Daily Caller‘s Alex Pappas reports. The money is budgeted to go towards office staff, travel and postage. Bush will receive more taxpayer subsidies than any other living ex-president.
Bush’s post-presidential budget is all thanks to the former presidents Act of 1958, which “guarantees taxpayer funding for ex-presidents.”
Pappas notes that other presidents are getting the same perk — despite not being particularly poverty-stricken.
