C Flower. Again I must plead a degree of ignorance, and thank you for not making more of a point of that, but isn't science based on observation of repeatable events. So if every single time we observe something that appears to have been designed we find that it has been we call it a law of nature. And if we observe the fact that everything tends towards disorder we can always expect that. I think people will bend themselves into pretzels like Gumby to avoid God. Come on Alea, you're almost there.

Hi wavy,

I think that's a sensible resolution of the science versus religion debate. Let the bible be various things but don't make it be what it ain't.

I don't think there is much of a debate about intelligent design. Intelligent design is by its nature non-science. It is magical intervention. You don't need to get into the timeline of geology or the extent of the red shift as stars accelerate through space and time in order to see that science does not seek to explain magic and magic has no need of science.
