The point is that doma's universe is - and I don't mean this to be pejorative - infinitely self-centred.
Everything revolves around the self, or the soul as he has it.
I am pretty much at the opposite extreme.
With perspective about the vastness of the universe, I think we should be more humble about ourselves. Human beings appear to me to be incidental, even if we are capable of contemplation of a different order than bacteria, say.
We can contemplate nature. But if we did not contemplate it and some alien on some other planet with a similar set of capabilities was doing so, the reality of the universe would be much the same. Individually, or even as a species, we are not an essential part of things. We are simply capable of a small quantity of understanding. As an ant within the enormity of space, we should not be so conceited about ourselves.
