There were many weeks, while George W. Bush was in office, that I paid significantly more than $3.999 a gallon. In June of 2008, gas prices in California hit an average high of nearly $4.60 for regular.

Since Obama took office, the highest average price here has been just under $4.35 and on a statewide average, they are now down to around $4.14.

re: "I haven't heard any Republicans giving Obama credit for these prices drops yet. After all, a few months ago when they were going up 3 or 4 cents a week, they were claiming that he was PERSONALLY responsible for the price hikes."

I'm glad you brought this up, OCU. We SHOULD credit Obummer for lowering the price of gas by several cents in the last few weeks. You say you're seeing $3.99/gallon? Hey, that's good news. Today's gas prices are among Obummer's biggest accomplishments.

Since you brought the subject up, we should also give him credit for the price change since he took office.

The average nationwide gas price was $1.80/gallon when the President took office.

Today, you're happy to have found it for $3.99.

Woo-hoo, Obummer! Way to go! Keep this up and we'll see $9/gallon by the end of term two!
