BAP,
on the fan control on Precision Tune, do you have it set on AUTO or have you considered clicking auto to turn it off and manually using the slide bar and running your fan at 80 percent?

That is where my gtx460 is at. This keeps the temps about 65 degrees and overnight they drop a little.

I would consider speeding the fan up until your temps drop down into the low sixties. This will help stop NANs and EUE's also.

I do not let me gpu temps get into the seventies at all. More fan speed is required.

Hope this helps.

micro...

Some activity going on here. When I got up in the AM my desktop had distorted, non-functioning visuals. I managed to look at Precision tools and it showed 99 for either the temp or the fan ... I forget. Folding was taking hours per step. So I took the vacuum cleaner, reversed the hose and blew out a lot of caked on dust. I hadn't been watching for dust. Now it says GPU temp 79-80C and fan speed 60 percent. That's better, but is it okay? Everything appears to be running fine again, but is it too hot? Do you think I should do anything?

Also my backup desktop is nearing fixed. The video card of high power for folding I'm after is out-of-stock so while I'm waiting for that, I'm getting a non-folding card to bring up and test the computer. I'll be able to run SMP hopefully. When I finally get running (don't hold yer breath), the team should get back to 200k points.
