Hi OCU:

We were involved in the 2010 census in the Northeast region. I was impressed with how diligently the census was taken, with frequent double and triple checking (to the annoyance of the information givers).
We redid an entire district because one census taker in the district appeared to be taking liberties with the information collected (or not collected).

There were weaknesses in the system. For example, census takers almost had to accept the information provided to them even if it looked to be false. Ethnicity was always a bit tricky.

I was looking at that map focusing on a few places where I once lived and so I checked the county in the UP of Michigan where my Alma Mater is located and noted that it shows that there were 0% Native American residents, yet the county that bordered it was listed as 13%. Now you have to understand, this is in the North woods of Michigan where there's barely any signs indicating that you've left one county and entered another and I just can't believe that some of what is a rather substantial Indian population, which has been living there since before the French showed-up in the 1600's, was confined to just one side of an imaginary line. And it's not like these are big far-flung counties, they are both rather modest in size.
