(From Hochizen, who I've passed along before... )

How are you? Feeling stressed? Calm down, calm down.

First let me tell you I utterly support prosperity. I am a wealthy money manager. Most of my private clients believe like you do, that Republicans support prosperity while Democrats hate it. I know, I know....after all, Democrats want to take your toaster oven and give it to a black person somewhere. BUT.....relax, and listen to the truth.

Now, for poor people, it really doesn't matter much who is in charge. They are poor. Yeah, maybe benefits are cut by Republicans....but they are still poor, and for the most part, they are not what you imagine. I know poor folks, am friends with some, and they still love people and have friends and dreams and hopes....they laugh and they cry, they are just like anyone else except they have no money. Oh, and some of them are also conniving scumbags.....just like people in the middle and upper class.

For the rich, Republicans actually help.....but ONLY ON PAPER. My private clients, for example, are happy when the stocks I have selected go up. Hooray, they have more money! However, they don't spend that money. Usually, if they take money out it is to re-balance their assets. IF, for example, I make them 40% in one year, they do not spend more. They just have more. The ONLY notable exception was the collapse of real estate, where some folks who were rich went broke, because they had personal guarantees on projects that went south....commercial projects, NOT houses.....and THAT happened under Bush.

So we have the middle class. THEY can be helped by either Republicans OR Democrats, depending on policies. So, what helps THEM more? What allows THEM to become prosperous? Well....it ISN'T a policy that hits things middle class people rely upon (unions provide higher wages, getting rid of them hurts middle class people....student loans help middle class people, limiting them limits their chance to become prosperous....lower wages caused by "free trade" hits them particularly hard, as poor people tend to have low or no wages, and rich people don't typically work for wages that are impacted by "free trade"). The Republican policies tend to hit the middle class the hardest! Tax cuts under Bush, for example....when I was middle class....gave me a whopping fifteen bucks every two weeks. THAT is irrelevant. Tax cuts under Obama, again when I was middle class, gave me a hundred bucks every two weeks! THAT made quite a difference! John Kerry's proposal, when he was running against the Dim Son, was to rebate to each taxpayer $1,500! THAT would stimulate the economy! See......middle class people would either spend that money, or pay down debt....either way, they would FEEL better and thus be more likely to buy things...stimulating the economy further.

Now...in my present situation....lets say I got $1,550. I wouldn't spend it, it would be irrelevant to me...THAT is why the Republicans were against it. The Republicans want to help people like me, but I don't need help anymore. To be honest, I would like to see help for people who are in situations like I used to be in, the middle class and/or poor. This isn't just altruism, or patriotism. It sure is NOT guilt! It is also self-interest. IF we have a vibrant middle class, and opportunity for advancement among the poor and middle class, we as a country have both hope and compassion. We face NO chance for a revolution, or societal collapse. Since I LIKE my life, and the prospect of the same life for my daughters, I want this to happen. The simple fact is that in most, not all, cases...Democrats are more likely than Republicans to try to help the middle classes and the poor.

Just as an aside....were my taxes to go up, my spending would stay the same. Were my taxes to go down, my spending would stay the same. I am not going to hire anyone, I have no interest in starting a business, I have no interest in retiring. In my case, supply side economics will NOT work.....and from the folks in my situation that I know.....the same is true!

So you see, my friend.......the logical thing to do if you value prosperity is NOT to vote Republican....at the least, vote the candidate.

Have a GREAT day!
