In retrospect, it appears they weren't looking to build a good case, but close the book on this.

Until this case was known to the public, it looks like nothing was going to happen to hold Zimmerman accountable for the death of Trayvon.

That's the cause of the outrage.

Maybe they should have. But there's a limit to how long someone can be held without charges, and unless the DA could build a case (at the time, he couldn't), he could have been released anyhow.

There's no statute of limitations on murder in most states - let the attorneys build a good solid case, then lock him up.
