Those are some interesting statistics, weco. However, there are a couple of flaws in your reasoning.

First, you claim to be comparing Texas -vs- California, when what you've actaully shown is Houston -vs- Los Angeles. What if I had instead posted Houston -vs- East L.A.? I could very likely conclude that California is far more dangerous than Texas.

Second, your crime index only supports the "Obummer 2012" finale if the issue of Crime is high on the list of voter priorities. These days, I imagine Crime pales alongside the issues of Jobs and the Economy, but perhaps you can look into this and let us know.
