OCU:

The problem isn't about the federal government extending more credit (currently over $1 trillion) to finance new college students. It's about fostering decent jobs for a vast reservoir of unemployed and underemployed college graduates, or ensuring that colleges ready students for employment, especially with the tuition-gouging that has closely followed the student loan program (unintended consequence that nobody without a brain could have anticipated).

The former is nicey-nice. The latter is critical.

Of course, sending them to college keeps them off the unemployment rolls for four years (one election cycle).

And how is this related to Obama or his policies? Isn't he pushing to lower that cost of financing college degrees and extending grants and loan programs for more students? Or are you suggesting that that's the problem, too many people are graduating from college thus flooding the market with overtrained personal?

Perhaps you're right, only rich families should send their kids to college since if they can't find work four years later, they can always go back home and let mom & dad support them since it wouldn't be all that much of a burden, not compared to when I lower- or middle-class student finished college, he'll be stuck with loans and very little chance of getting help from parents who themselves are barely able to pay the bills. You know, you might be right, we should be looking for a candidate who want's to stop giving money to needy, albeit deserving students and reserve college educations for only those who can already afford to pay for it upfront, which of course means that anyone who has run for President as a Republican for about as long as we can recall would fit that bill, eh?
