I tend to buy a lottery ticket every couple weeks or so, even though I am wealthy. Why?
Because it is fun.
I also play World of Warcraft, even though it costs money and I have NO chance of making money when I play. Why?
Because it is fun.
Fun is good. Without having fun, money becomes....well....worthless, doncha think? I mean, if you can't have fun, no matter how much money you have....you are poor, poor indeed.
I say let the poor buy tickets, and let them go to baseball games and even play World of Warcraft. Once they get money, it is theirs to do with as they will. Food stamps, of course, can only be used for food....that is fine.
But banning poor people from having fun, having a dream, having a chance...albeit a small one....of being wealthy? Doesn't seem right to me!
For those who are gonna whine about their tax dollars being used by poor people to buy tickets....well, life isn't fair, deal with it. I don't like my tax dollars being used for our bloated military to keep bases in Germany. Lets just say YOUR tax dollars go to aircraft carriers, and MY tax dollars go to social programs, and we can both be happy!
