According to Zimmerman's father, the story George gave the police, and which the police have described as totally consistent with the evidence - is that he lost sight of Martin, but Martin then approached HIM. I'm paraphrasing now, but Martin said, "Do you have a problem?" Zimmerman said, "No." Martin said, "You do now" - and slugged him in the face, breaking his nose and sending him to the ground. He then climbed on top of Zimmerman and started banging his head into the sidewalk. Zimmerman struggled to back up into the grass, and screamed for help. A girl who saw all of this ran into her house to get her parents - at which time the shooting occurred.

If this is true, and the police say the evidence and witnesses are supporting it, then Martin was absolutely the aggressor.

All along, I've agreed that Zimmerman was pretty foolish to be pursuing Trayvon, especially since he'd already notified police. He should have gone back to his car and stayed there. Even if Trayvon were actively committing a crime (which he was not), Zimmerman's no cop - he should have stayed out of it. The safest thing to do in that situation would have been to be a good witness.

I'm not as certain as you are that the Stand Your Ground law would be on Trayvon's side, though it's entirely possible. If Florida considers following someone as aggression, then you're right (and a lot of people in Orlando are criminals).
